About this Event
An invitation to ritual. A Black and queer becoming.
Gender beyond containment.
Rooted in the individual.
Drenched in the sweetness of our excess.
Suga’ is a participatory performance ritual merging visual art and live performance. Conceived and created by Bundle of Sticks founders Dazié Grego-Sykes and Derrick Miller-Handley, and featuring collaborator Savannah Schmidt, founder of TTA Healing Studio, Suga' is grounded in a personal journey through Blackness, queerness, and gender in search of deeper truth.
The space opens one hour before showtime, inviting audiences to move through an exhibition of original artworks that later enter into the performance. In this shared space, audiences are not just observers, but witnesses to an unfolding exploration of the lived expansiveness of gender.
