About this Event
How about growing your own fresh, organic lemons and limes?
NEW! Although we don’t think of citrus as a potential crop in North Texas, Dallas County has the position of recently being changed from USDA zone 8A to 8b. This change in designation signifies a slightly warmer climate, and we can take advantage by cultivating more citrus crops. Our upcoming class presented by Agriculture and Natural Resources agent Matthew Orwat will focus on cold-tolerant citrus types that can be grown in North Texas when planted in sheltered location with some protection. We will learn about the major groups and varieties of citrus available for protected culture as well as the cultural requirements for optimal fruit production. Additionally, cold protection strategies such as plant orientation, frost cloth and microsprinkler irrigation will be discussed so you can enjoy the best success with citrus! FREE.
