Stronger Than Cancer: Tait McKenzie’s First Charity Powerlifting Event
This June, take the platform for a cause that matters. Stronger Than Cancer is the first-ever charity powerlifting event hosted at the Tait McKenzie Centre, bringing together students, athletes, and first-time lifters to raise funds for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation—a global leader in cancer research and patient care.
With support from Torque Barbell, a respected local powerlifting gym, this event is designed to replicate the energy and structure of a real powerlifting meet—right here on campus. Whether you're chasing a personal record or stepping onto the platform for the very first time, you’ll be part of a supportive, high-energy environment built on strength and community.
💪 Competition Categories
Choose the division that fits your goals:
- Single Lift Entry: Compete in Squat, Bench Press, or Deadlift
- Full Power: Compete in Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift
- Push: Squat + Bench Press
- Push/Pull: Bench Press + Deadlift

Winners will be determined using a weight-to-lift ratio, ensuring fair competition across all lifters. Top performers will receive prizes from York Recreation and secure a spot on the official event leaderboard.
