About this Event
Overview
Practitioners will learn how to structure conversations for the best possible outcomes, including how to navigate difficult or secondary conversations with individuals who may be reluctant or vulnerable. The session will cover three key areas:
- Tooling up with practical skills, cutting through jargon, and refreshing financial knowledge to help practitioners feel confident in supporting others.
- Creating effective conversation structures, managing secondary conversations and navigating those difficult conversations.
- Engaging with vulnerable people and approaching challenging discussions sensitively, while addressing unconscious bias, ensuring every conversation is grounded in empathy, clarity, and trust.
What will be covered at this event:
Financial Understanding and SOS Money Workshop
- Discussing and managing finances.
- SOS Workshops, tooling up for those conversations.
- Understanding jargon, areas to signpost for refreshing your finances.
Structure Money Conversations
- How to construct strong money conversations.
- Manage difficult secondary conversations.
- Navigate those difficult conversations.
Provide a structured approach to talking about money with people who may be vulnerable.
- What makes a conversation “vulnerable”
- Manage sensitive conversations i.e. choosing the right environment (privacy, time, comfort)
- How to handle unconscious bias.
Who is this event for?
- Money guidance practitioners in the third, community, and public benefit sectors. If you’re a volunteer or member of staff and talk to people about money in your role, this event is for people like you!
- Anyone supporting others with money - related conversations who want to help them make a positive financial change.
