Being able to identify the bugs in and on the waters you are fishing, when you are fishing them is one of the chief skills of a successful fly fisher.Join Aquatic Biologist and Fly Fishing Geek Peter Stitcher for an in-depth look at entomology and how to match the hatch. Participants will meet at the Ascent Fly Shop (10143 W Chatfield Ave. Unit 1. Littleton, CO 80127) for an in-depth review of trout's aquatic and terrestrial foods, their life cycles and defining characteristics, and the fly patterns that match them. Upon completion of the classroom portion, participants will apply the topics and techniques discussed by sampling invertebrates on and around the park's lakes and river while finding the best match in their fly boxes. The class will run from 8am - 1pm, including the streamside portion.
Participants will each receive a handout detailing the life-cycles and defining characteristics of the species that trout eat as well as the fly patterns commonly used to match each.
Each participant will also receive a complete Fly Fishing Entomology Kit, valued at $55.95, which includes:

Participants are encouraged to bring their own waders and boots, a pencil, and a beverage or snack for their time on the water.
