About this Event
Join us as we welcome Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellow Dr Dayei Oh for our next Strath_Fem seminar. Please feel free to bring your lunch along!
Seminar topic: This short paper critiques current algorithmic content moderation on large commercial platforms through the lens of Marxist-feminist digital ethics and outlines a vision for justice-oriented moderation. It advances three exploratory theses: (1) reimagining the normative foundations of moderation by shifting the focus from civility to participatory parity; (2) recognising identity and power inequalities in speech; and (3) evaluating moderation outcomes through community-sensitive impact metrics.
Dayei Oh is a Chancellor’s Fellow and Lecturer in Media Analytics in Journalism, Media, and Communication in the Department of Humanities at the University of Strathclyde since August 2025. Before joining Strathclyde, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki. Her research focuses on the intersection of digital technologies, public spheres, and political communication. Methodologically, she is interested in computational social science and mixed-methods research.
