About the Workshop

Strategic Collaboration for Better Community Health, Well-being, and Equity

Have you been working with a committee, board, or other group that works across sectors, disciplines, jurisdictions, or government entities to improve the well-being of your community or a specific population? Are you ready to take your collaborative efforts to the next level?

The Population Health Innovation Lab (PHIL) invites you to a training experience that will empower you to leverage strategic collaboration for lasting, systemic change in population health and equity. Whether you’re an emerging leader or seasoned professional, this training will unlock new pathways for you to enhance impact through proven strategies focused on improving systems, advancing equity, and sustaining high-performance collaborations.

Why You Should Join Us

Participating in this workshop will empower you to:

  • Transform Your Expertise into Action: This training is grounded with theory and research but moves beyond those concepts to equip you with actionable strategies to lead collaborations that deliver measurable outcomes for population health.
  • Learn from Peers and Experts: Gain insider knowledge from cutting edge research. This training is led by systems change agents with academic training and professional experience in population health and collaboration across sectors and boundaries. You will not only benefit from PHIL’s research and lessons learned in the field, but also have time to connect and learn from peers doing similar work across the nation.
  • Gain Access to Proven Resources: Leverage the lessons learned from PHIL’s Aligning Systems for Health research that investigated what led to effective collaboration and outcomes in 22 collaborative groups across tribal, rural, suburban, and urban communities throughout California and Washington state. Gain tools, templates, and resources, including a free copy of PHIL’s 300+ page “Powering Change: Building Healthy, Equitable Communities Together” curriculum to enhance your work.
  • Flexible Learning Formats to Fit Your Schedule: We are offering this comprehensive two-day workshop virtually and in person in Denver, Colorado. If you want more depth than a two-day session, sign up now to be notified when we open seats for our space-limited, three-month Strategic Collaboration for Better Community Health, Well-being, and Equity Learning Lab, which is anticipated to run from April - July 2025.

What You’ll Learn
  • Improve Systems with Strategic Collaboration: Discover how to bridge silos across sectors, jurisdictions, and levels and types of government. Learn how to implement collaboration frameworks that drive meaningful change across community health systems.
  • Advance Equity Through Collaboration Dynamics: Learn to embed equity into every phase of your collaborative work to create fair and inclusive processes that generate equitable solutions.
  • Sustain Long-Term Collaborative Success: Get the tools you need to maintain momentum and high performance in your collaborative partnerships for lasting results.

  • Backbone or bridge staff (i.e., supporting Accountable Communities of/for Health, Accountable Health Communities, public health coalitions, Collective Impact initiatives, etc.).
  • Conveners stewarding the work of health-focused collaboratives (e.g., foundations, local health departments, etc.).
