About this Event
The National Leprechaun Museum has been working with our partners GLAFKA and Eduma to explore the use of traditional and personal storytelling to promote Empathy, Inclusion, and Critical Thinking, and to challenge Prejudice.
Stories Under the Magnifying Glass is aimed at young adults aged 16+ and will use a variety exercises and guided discussions to teach participants how to analyse and tell both personal and traditional stories, how storytelling is surrounds us in our daily lives, and how to critically analyse stories, learning how to ask the right questions when presented with information.
It will feature:
- Introduction to storytelling and its role in society and storytelling techniques, such as voice work, facial expressions, gestures, and the use of emotions in a story and how to identify hidden meanings and messages in stories and critically evaluate their impact on social perception.
- Analysis of different types of stories (myths, legends, ballads, real stories) in terms of their messages, values, and ideologies.
- Discussion on how stories influence our perception of the world and how they can be used for manipulation and spreading misinformation.
- An introduction to the principles of media literacy and critical evaluation of information from different sources.
- How the aharing of personal stories csn breakdown prejudices and promot tolerance and understanding.

Stories Under the Magnifying Glass will be held at The Lab on Foley Street in Dublin City Centre and as they are co-funded by Eramus + and the European Union, the workshop is completely free! All we ask for is your time and enthusiasm!
As there is a limited of 20 spaces for for the youth workshop, please apply early to avoid disappointment.
