Singer-songwriter Roger McGuinn began his career at 17 and was active on the national music scene before co-founding the Byrds, who blended folk harmonies, Dylan-inspired lyrics and the Beatles’ electric sound to become one of the most influential rock bands of all time. Led by McGuinn’s 12-string Rickenbacker guitar, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers topped the charts with hits like “Mr. Tambourine Man,” helped launch the psychedelic era with “Eight Miles High,” and presaged the country-rock wave with their album Sweetheart of the Rodeo.
