Join us for the final STORIE event of 2024 & catch new work from West Midland’s writers SASHA BUTLER, LIZ CHURCHILL & ALAN KANE FRASER & short reads from our co-curators TAYLOR BURNS & CLIVE JUDD all underneath the arches of Moor Street Station at Kilder Bar.


SASHA BUTLER is a Birmingham based writer. Her first novel, ‘The Marriage Contract’ will be published by Salt in 2025 & was shortlisted for the Cheshire Novel Prize 2022 & the Bath Novel Award 2022, under the former title ‘As Soft as Dreams’. In addition to novels, she occasionally writes short stories. Her short story ‘Map of an Affair’ featured in Floodgate Press’ anthology, Night Time Economy (September 2024).
LIZ CHURCHILL is a writer, drama facilitator & parent-carer based in Birmingham. She writes short stories & is working on a collection. She runs a monthly live fiction night at The Old Mo pub in Balsall Heath called Mo Stories & also a short story reading group. She’s part of Writing West Midlands Room 204 cohort of writers & the London Library Emerging Writers Programme cohort of 2024-25. Her work has been published online by the Mechanics’ Institute Review, STORGY, Ellipsis Zine & Scratch Books - & she has previously won the Scratch Books A4 Competition. Her first print publication is forthcoming in Floodgate Press’s ‘Night Time Economy’ anthology.
ALAN KANE FRASER is a writer from Birmingham. His debut play ‘Random Acts of Malice’ won the inaugural Derek Lomas Award for Best New Writing at the Wellington Literary Festival. He has had short stories appear in Digbeth Stories & Night Time Economy (both Floodgate Press) & will also have a piece included in the forthcoming Transformer: Writing the Black Country anthology (Repeater Books, 2025). His debut novel ‘The Muse of Hope Falls’ was published by Lightning Books in 2024.
