About this Event
The Stone's End Day Centre specialises in working with adults with have support needs, and help their members to remain healthy and independent for as long as possible. They work closely with families, care services, partner organisations and professionals to provided an integrated and well rounded service. Though they are connected the the wide AgeUK charity, the day centre relies mostly on fundraising to provide their services.
Volunteers provide a vital service on the day by spending time in thoughtful converstaion with member and engaging in a range of carefully planned, stimulating activities. Talking with members and encourgaing them to participate in the scheduled activities can provide a moment of connection and compassion, which has also been connected with slowing the progress of demetia. It is a deeply rewarding way to spend your time.
Volunteers are supported on the day by staff at the Stone's End Day Centre, regular volunteers, and a staff member from HandsOn London. Volunteers will have an hour break for lunch. Lunch is not provided by the centre, so please bring a packed lunch or feel free to go to one of the many charming local cafes. Otherwise, all materials for the day will be provided.
