PALESTINIAN EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP AND EXHIBITION TOURThe workshop would invite participants to the practice and storytelling of Masa Nazzal's embroidery style currently being shown in the Sites of Life exhibition. Masa would split the workshop into three parts within a three hour workshop, the first part would take the participants on a tour of the various embroidery pieces Masa has made, explaining the style, technique, and storytelling she utilized to create her pieces. Specifically, she explains how the craft becomes a way of returning back to the land. Through an introduction of various plants exhibited at P21, Masa presents an entry point to think about return, land and belonging through cross stitch. The second part of the workshop would give the chance for participants to design their own embroidery pattern inspired by traditional Palestinian embroidery style. Using Masa's specific embroidery style of fragmentation, participants would be given different pictures of traditional embroidery and asked to cut them up and reattach them. The third part of the workshop would be stitching the designed patterns so that participants have a sense of the practice and craft of tatreez, while also having a piece to take home with them.
