The third child of Rocky Aoki, who was a wrestler and the founder of the Benihana restaurant chain, Steve Aoki has made a name for himself as a DJ, record producer and music executive. Aoki is known for his entertaining live performances where he will crowd surf and share cake with attendees. He spins electronic dance music as well as hip hop, electro house and trap. One of his most famous tracks is In Da House, a collaboration with Zuper Blahq, aka known as will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. Steve is not just a DJ; he is also an entertainer and iconic figure who started off playing in a makeshift underground venue.

Some of the most successful musical entrepreneurs got their start in unglamorous venues and circumstances. While Steve Aoki was studying for his undergraduate degrees at UC Santa Barbara, he was also gaining an audience by producing his own records and performing concerts for students in what became known as the Pickle Patch, a property adjacent to the campus. When he was still in his early 20s, Aoki ended up founding his first record label, Dim Mak. Now he is also a philanthropist whose foundation focuses on disaster relief efforts and brain research.
