Why we’re raising funds

This event supports This Is For Me – This Is For Science, a campaign created by scientists, for scientists, in partnership with Cancer Research UK. We’re raising funds to close a critical gap in cancer research - the stage between discoveries made in the lab and treatments that reach patients. Too often, promising ideas stall at this point due to a lack of early funding. All funds raised are fully ringfenced for science and go directly towards Proof-of-Concept (POC) Translational Awards (£5,000–£10,000). These micro-awards enable researchers, especially early-career scientists, to generate the key data needed to move breakthrough ideas forward. By taking part, you’re helping unlock real research projects across the UK, accelerating new diagnostics, therapies, and technologies that could change patients’ lives. Check out what’s happening across the UK here!Built by the scientific community. Backed by Cancer Research UK and the Office for Life Sciences. Driven by you.
