Celandine Wood Animal Rescue is proud to announce the Steps for Sandy Walk, a meaningful fundraising event held in memory of a very special dog who spent years in our care, patiently waiting for a place to call home.
Sandy was a dog full of love and quiet devotion. Once she formed a bond, it was unbreakable—offering unwavering loyalty and affection to those she trusted. She greeted familiar faces with genuine joy, her personality shining through in the smallest of ways, including her endearing little “dance” and gentle paw taps whenever treats appeared. Those who knew her will never forget her.
After such a long wait, Sandy was finally on the verge of finding her forever home. Tragically, she passed away before she had the chance to leave the kennels.
This walk is held not only in her memory, but in recognition of every dog still waiting.
The event will begin in Heswall, continuing through Parkgate towards Wrexham. Our dedicated volunteers, supporters, and some of the dogs currently in our care will take part, each covering a distance suitable for them. Every step taken reflects our commitment to the animals we care for and the journeys they endure.
Funds raised will directly support the continued development of our Kennels—enhancing our facilities and providing larger kennels with a separate sleeping area and hatch making it safer and easier to clean. This will help us provide a safe, nurturing environment while we work tirelessly to find loving forever homes for these dogs who due to size, breed or behaviour, can be waiting years.
We are currently seeking support from local businesses and organisations who would like to be part of this meaningful event.
