About this Event
This richly illustrated talk will focus on medical history research carried out by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine concerning a unique group of patients under its care from late 1945 and 2000. It features extracts from oral history interviews recorded with veterans and research into the medical ingenuity that kept men alive in desparate conditions, and includes stories of local Wirral men and readings from secret diaries. The talk is illustrated using secret artwork and highlights the extraordinary stories of ordinary men, thrown together in war time ten thousand mile from home.
