About this Event
Starting Points is a monthly Oakland-based open mic series that aims to promote the writing of emerging and diverse poets and writers. For a select number of events, we select features who represent a range of voices from the Bay Area’s literary scene, with an emphasis on the voices of queer and BIPOC writers. At every event, attendees can sign up for the open mic. We often tap our open-mic performers to come back and feature as another way of highlighting new voices.
For more than a hundred years, the Berkeley Branch of the California Writers Club (CWC-Berkeley) has educated writers of all abilities in the craft and business of writing. Our purpose is to promote fellowship and to provide practical information that supports writers in achieving their publishing goals. The Berkeley Branch is the founding branch of the statewide Club, which now has 22 branches and around 2000 members throughout California. Learn more about CWC-Berkeley at cwc-berkeley.org.
