"Great work. One of the best instructors I've experienced.” - Recent participant
Standard Mental Health First Aid training is a 2 day (12-hour) face to face course for any adult who is interested in growing their mental health literacy and mental health first aid skills, so they may support their friends, families and communities in need.
It's an education experience based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. Past participants have found that the course provides some of the most valuable and practical training they have ever done.
You will learn:
The signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in people over the age of 18
how to provide initial help
where and how to get professional help
what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective and,
how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
Accessibility and cost:
The training is accessible to everyone, no matter your background, level of education or prior knowledge, while the cost (tax deductible) is kept to an absolute minimum of $350 so that as many people as possible can participate.
This is a slight increase from last year as MHFA Australia have implemented a 'Learner Access Fee' to improve participant's digital learning experience as well as course resources, among other benefits.
Feedback from recent participants:

“Ruth was absolutely fantastic. Read the room well, was engaging, sensitive, knowledgeable.”
“The instructor was fantastic. She knew the content of what she was teaching, continually touched base with people to make sure they were ok. She was very welcoming and I felt very comfortable in engaging in conversations with her during the 2 days.”
“I walked away feeling so elated and empowered by the information provided and the way the material was delivered. Ruth is extremely good at her job. She is engaging, funny, and empathetic while also structured and methodical.”
