About this Event
Stand up for Mental Health, to Benefit Fellowship Place
Fellowship Place, a social service agency located in New Haven, CT, is hosting its annual fundraiser on Friday April 17 at Lost in New Haven, an exciting museum with over 10,000 artifacts from New Haven’s storied past. For this special event, Fellowship Place is partnering with Stand Up for Mental Health, a nonprofit organization which uses comedy and live performances to bust stigma and celebrate individuals living with mental illness or substance use issues. The fundraiser will feature drinks, light dinner fare, a tour of the Lost in New Haven Exhibits, and the highlight of the evening —a comedy show starring David Granirer and members of the Fellowship Place community. All proceeds to benefit deeply affordable housing programs, basic needs for the homeless, day programs, and employment services for adults living with a mental illness or a co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder. This winter, David Granirer, an award-winning counselor and Stand-Up Comic, is teaching a class at Fellowship Place on writing & performing comedy skits. Graduates from the class will perform at the fundraiser and share their experiences with the mental health system. The event will shine a light on the people served at Fellowship Place and how they cope with their illnesses and the challenges thrown their way.
