About this event
Come and help us document nature during our Biodiversity Walks! These event will take place during international, national, and provincial bioblitz days and will help us document nature throughout St. Patrick's Island and during different times of year. We encourage you to photograph and document flora and fauna on the island using the iNaturalist app.
DATES:
CITY NATURE CHALLENGE - APRIL 25, 9:30am - 11:30am
ALBERTA BIODIVERSITY CHALLENGE - JUNE 13, 9:30am - 11:30am
BIG BACKYARD BIOBLITZ - AUGUST 2, 9:30am - 11:30am
We'll talk about some of the history of the island, some of the changes it's gone through! Of course, we will be taking photos of any interesting plants and animals we come across and upload our observations to the iNaturalist app.
Please have it installed on your phone before you arrive or bring your camera so that you can take photos and upload them after the walk.
Our knowledgeable guides will share fascinating insights about the birds and other wildlife you encounter and talk about their behaviours, making this a great educational opportunity for nature enthusiasts of all ages.
We will have binoculars available for participants who don't have them. Space is limited so don't miss your chance to discover the beauty and diversity of Calgary's birdlife on this exciting nature walk!
These walks are presented in partnership between East Village and Nature Calgary, with all registration fees being donated directly to Nature Calgary.
All walks will start along the East Village River Board walk, located directly north of 656 Confluence Way SE on the RiverWalk pathway.
