[N.B if you do drop off we ask that you are close by and contactable, if your child needs to leave for any reason they will have to be accompanied around the building] Gem will not be able to do toilet trips etc as she is the only facilitator. There is also the opportunity to stay after the session and carry on the making in the Community and Creative Hub area in the Cibomato Canteen area - https://stanneshouse.org/projects/cibomatto-canteen/ there are materials and an area to continue being creative.
Karen and Alice recently devised and ran art sessions for home educated young people at Arnolfini. These sessions have helped inform the programme offered at Bricks.
Information about the facilitator: Gem has a background in photography and videography production which led her to work in London and various locations around the globe. She settled in Bristol six years ago, her husband's hometown.
Gem has worked with children at a forest school, using the power of nature to nurture their mental health and instil a love for the environment and art. She is passionate about education and works with Let’s Make Art at the Arnolfini for their family engagement workshops and several events and festivals.
Information about LET’S MAKE ART: an independent arts organisation run by artists and educators Alice Hendy and Karen Davies. They are artists in residence at the Arnolfini, Bristol’s International Centre for Contemporary Arts. Their fun and inventive style has led them to work with many like minded organisations and artists, delivering accomplished projects for diverse audiences. They are passionate about the importance of creative subjects in schools and truly believe that studying and participating in art supports learning in other subjects. Art For Schools started in 2015 to provide multimedia arts programmes for KS1 and 2 pupils. They explore all aspects of making and experiment with diverse materials and techniques, valuing young people as natural artists.
Every year they enter children's artwork created at Art Club into the Young Artists Show at The Royal Academy in London and have had four successful candidates.
