*There is no pressure to participate in any aspect of the workshop. It's very chill just to socialize & observe. In SquishLab, we are here first and foremost to engage with our internal experience as we share space with others.*
SquishLab is a facilitated space to practice navigating connection through touch (or even proximity). Supported with concepts from play school, partner yoga, and our own childlike wisdom, in a trauma-informed container where everyone is safe to explore self-consent, boundary expression, communication, and so much more.
Come alone or bring friends - we will partner/group up as it flows. Opening circle includes group agreements & procedural language practice like making requests and offers & practice saying and receiving "no". Then the facilitator guides us into (always optional) partner/group stretching/snuggling flows, including SquishLab favorites Friendship Flower, Squash Blossom & Lovezagna. Eventually we naturally squosh into more of a free play vibe where we might glob into different stacks and piles as is natural.
This space is so rich! Come check it out! We are here to offer suggestions, demonstrate movements, & support your learning & healing process. Opt in and out as feels comfortable. This is all about your own internal experience in these contexts of shared space and deeper layers of connection.
This squish will take place at the beautiful Himmapan Cafe & Community at NE 18th & Burnside.
Doors are at 6:30pm, opening circle at 6:45.
We have plenty of squish on hand but you are welcome to bring a yoga mat/blanket etc if possible for comfort.
The requested exchange is $10-25 via Venmo @YourYogaFriend or cash in person. Please contribute what you reasonably can to support this important community space.
Squish events take place all over the city (and beyond) in the form of 2-hour workshops, slumber parties, cuddle concerts, camping trips, and weeklong retreats. We squish somewhere almost every week, check the calendar to see where we are squishing next.
