About this Event
EVENT DETAILS:
Join Feminist Bird Club Los Angeles for a bird outing at DeForest Park, in Long Beach. This is a sweet little park along the LA River, with a beautiful natural habitat area as well as a more classic city park area. This can be a great spot to find migrants in sprintgtime! We'll be on the lookout for migrating hummingbirds, warblers, tanagers & more!
We'll meet near the parking lot at DeForest Park at 8 AM (in the vicinity of 33.866663, -118.192426).
We welcome fellow bird-lovers of all ages and experience levels (we love beginners!) and we center people of marginalized genders, sexualities, races, and abilities.
Please bring binoculars if you have them. We also have extra binoculars and are happy to lend them out on a first-come, first-served basis!
Space is limited, so please be sure to RSVP. 🦆🦅🦜
PARKING INSTRUCTIONS:
There is a parking lot adjacent along DeForest Ave. You can use a maps app to navigate "DeForest Park". Park in the lot right near: (33.866663, -118.192426). If you have any trouble finding us, please text Sarah at (801) 244-2692 or Maggie at (203) 984-6690.
A CCESSIBILITY:
We might take a bit of a windy path. In the natural habitat portion of the park, paths tend to be decomposed granite or dirt/gravel. In some areas, paths may become a bit narrow and uneven. In the city park area, we may find ourselves veering off walkways into grassy areas since many of the birds are along the treeline, far from the path. The park is quite flat overall, but we may run into some gentle slopes here and there.
Restrooms are found near the parking lot, though we haven't visited this park recently and can't promise they'll be open or well maintained.
