About this Event

Leap into the rabbit hole this spring in the season's most colorful fête!

Trip down the rabbit hole this spring and find yourself in a mild grassy slope in a garden with over 500 tree and plant species. There you'll have a lovely time meeting interesting people, enjoying refreshments, lawn games, and music in a Mad Hatter's Garden Party! You will also meet representatives of one of the Puget Sound area’s oldest and most respected charities.

DRESS CODE: ROCK THAT FASCINATOR OR HAT. Garden party attire or in homage to an Alice in Wonderland character or come as you are. Fascinators for the ladies and hats for the gentlemen encouraged. (Please note the picnic site’s mild grassy slope).

THE VENUE: EXOTIC FLORA IN THE EMERALD CITY. Encompassing seven acres in the Ballard Locks complex, the Botanical Garden features plant and tree species from around the world planted by its original gardener, the botanist Carl S. English. Horticultural classes and field trips are sometimes held on the grounds for the unusual flora.

REFRESHMENTS. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

THE FEATURED CHARITY. The Sacred Heart Shelter—Catholic Community Services (“SHS”) has been housing homeless families in the Puget Sound area for over 40 years. SHS’ representatives will share brief reflections on their impact, volunteer opportunities, and needs.

ADMISSION: DONATED ITEM + EVENTBRITE FEE. Please see SHS’ list of needed items and buy at least one item from the list. The item will be shipped directly to Sacred Heart Shelter. Please indicate your name as the Sender when you make the purchase to be added to the guest list. Contact Sacred Heart Shelter's Julie Thompson, Volunteer & Resource Coordinator ([email protected]) for any questions about the list. Eventbrite has a service charge of at least $1.

NO REFUNDS OR RETURNS. Donated items cannot be returned. Eventbrite's service fee is nonrefundable.

THE ORGANIZERS. The season's most colorful fête is organized by Party for a Purpose, a Meetup group. The organizers cannot accept donations of any kind. All must be made directly to the charity. They also cannot coordinate any volunteer activities.
