Spring Tea Gathering in the Garden of the Pine WindSaturday, April 25th @ Bonsai Hut
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Step into a contemplative spring tea gathering that weaves together Japanese garden aesthetics, seasonal awareness, and the quiet artistry of tea.
This immersive experience begins with a guided walk through the Garden of the Pine Wind, inviting guests to slow down and observe the subtle expressions of spring — new green leaves, emerging blossoms, birdsong, and shifting light. Guests are encouraged to notice the season deeply, preparing both mind and senses for the tea gathering that follows.
Before tea is served, participants are welcomed with an educational introduction to the Japanese tea tradition. This segment explores:
The seasonal nature of tea gatherings
The meaning and care of traditional tea utensils
The symbolism behind seasonal sweets
How tea, setting, and season are intentionally unified
Seasonal Kigo Reflection
To deepen the connection between garden and tea, each guest receives a small Kigo (seasonal word) card featuring a spring theme. During the garden walk, guests are invited to write a single word inspired by their kigo and the landscape around them.
These reflections are gathered and woven into a short, original haiku created for that specific seating. Guests receive a handwritten or printed copy of the collective haiku at the close of the experience — a quiet keepsake that captures the spirit of that moment in spring.
Tea & Sweet
Guests then enjoy a seasonal sweet and a bowl of traditional Japanese tea, prepared and served with care. The pacing of the experience allows time to settle, observe, and engage with tea as a ritual of presence.
