Blend with Bourbon Women Atlanta with Shortbarrel/Old Fourth Distillery for an exclusive whiskey blending class. Clinton Dugan, Shortbarrel/Old Fourth partner, will guide us through the magic and science of blending whiskey. We’ll dive into the story of the brands, including the history of Bottled in Bond and have a hands-on experience blending our own whiskey. Everyone will take home a bottle of their blend! Lite bites will be included. Indicate when you register if you would like to blend with bourbon or rye.
The Shortbarrel / Old Fourth Distillery Story:
Originally formed in 2015 as a small group of bourbon enthusiasts in Atlanta, Georgia, the Shortbarrel name has since become synonymous with top-notch quality. Handpicked with great care, only barrels that meet the group’s exacting standards proudly bear their name. Over four years (2016-2020), they embarked on countless barrel-picking adventures, meticulously selecting around 350 different barrels—possibly more, but things get fuzzy. It was during a Sunday in Louisville in 2020, after indulging in bourbons for hours, that they crossed paths with a barrel broker. In a moment of inspired intoxication, they decided to venture into the realm of creating our brand. In February 2023, the renowned Old Fourth Distillery was officially acquired by Shortbarrel Bourbon. This acquisition marks the next chapter in the story of Old Fourth, a distillery that has captivated the hearts of connoisseurs for years. With this strategic partnership, Shortbarrel Bourbon aims to preserve the distillery’s rich legacy while infusing its own expertise to unlock new levels of craftsmanship and innovation. The coming years hold exciting prospects as this dynamic collaboration sets out to redefine the artistry of spirits and create unique libations that will leave a lasting impression on the discerning palates of whiskey aficionados.
Old Fourth Distillery proudly stands as Atlanta’s first legal distillery since 1906. Once nestled in the heart of the historic Old 4th Ward, the location became a gathering spot for many. From 2014 to 2022, they meticulously crafted their spirits utilizing a state-of-the-art facility that seamlessly integrated cutting-edge technology with time-honored techniques. Every drop of their exquisite spirits originates from regional, sustainable sources, ensuring a taste that is unparalleled in quality and authenticity.
The original Old Fourth Distillery, loved by many, closed its doors in December 2022. However, the current ownership group found a new home in Norcross, Georgia. This new facility boasts not only the distilling, aging, blending, packaging, and back-office operations but also features a private tasting room where consumers can indulge in the distinct flavors of all Shortbarrel and Old Fourth spirits.
