“Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.” Helen Keller
Neuroscience confirms what wisdom traditions have taught for millennia: compassion is both an innate capacity and a skill we can strengthen. We can deliberately cultivate and train our ability to stay connected to our deepest values and humanity in the face of suffering while caring for ourselves and others. Amazingly, doing so can actually buffer us and others from the negative affects of stress, strengthen our social connections, and help us respond in a skillful and sustainable manner.
Compassion Cultivation Training© (CCT™) is an 8-week personal and professional development course designed at Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education which is taught globally by Certified CCT Instructors. The program includes practical tools and exercises designed to enhance your awareness, compassion, and resilience.
This session of CCT will be led by Certified CCT Instructor Laura Banks and will meet online for two hours weekly for eight weeks. The class takes place in real time in a virtual classroom environment and includes:
- Large and small group discussions to share learning experiences
- Guided meditation to improve awareness
- Listening and communication exercises to build compassionate interactions
- Access to online guided meditations to support a daily practice of developing loving kindness, empathy, and compassion.
- Practical applications to explore and develop compassionate thoughts and actions in real life
This class is interactive and happens live in a group learning environment. To participate, you will need a quiet location, a reliable internet connection, and a computer or tablet with a webcam and a microphone.
