SPINAL WAVES - SOMATIC EXPLORATION INTO MOVEMENTOur spines often appear in contexts of “good vs. bad posture” (Haltung) or back pain. We literally name them columns (Säulen) that ought to be “straight”.
In this workshop we invite you to explore and experience the wavy nature of your spine, its inner rhythms and the oscillations when we move in space.
We will use different approaches to access our “backbones” as a multilayered system that is smooth and fluid while also providing structure and orientation.
Some questions that we tackle are…
What makes up a spine?
What is a neutral spine - in rest and movement?
What is the story behind the famous double-S-form of us as adults and how did we get there from a round baby spine?
How to find ease and support for and from our spines?
In every workshop, we will bring anatomical input to our bodies by giving & receiving touch, guided movement explorations and simple dance sequences. We combine analyzing and sensing with bringing together scientific knowledge and personal experience. By discovering inner places, relationships and pathways, we open up possibilities to choose from in our daily movement and dance.
The material we provide is taken and inspired by the Axis Syllabus and embodied anatomy. Both are somatic practices that approach body and mind as equals connected with our being. We offer tools to relate to our physicality as a mindful, lived part of ourselves. The practice aims to empower personal expertise for health, coordination and resilience.
The workshops are designed for all levels of experience with movement practice and somatic work. Also, we welcome all with a curiosity who may not have prior training.
