About the Workshop
Join OITIJ-JO Kitchen for a three-part, hands-on cooking workshop exploring the bold, comforting flavors of Bengali home cooking. Across three Wednesday evenings, you’ll learn how to make traditional dishes from scratch, and sit down to enjoy what you cook at the end of each session.
Each session will focus on a different signature dish:
🫑 Session 1 – August 21: Bhorta A deep dive into the art of smoky, mashed vegetables and proteins, a cornerstone of Bangladeshi comfort food.
🍬 Session 2 – August 28: Pitha Make sweet and savoury handmade rice cakes from scratch, delicate, festive, and full of cultural history.
🥘 Session 3 – September 4: Roti & Masala Curry Flaky, layered flatbreads paired with rich, slow-cooked masala, cooked the traditional way.

About OITIJ-JO Kitchen
OITIJ-JO Kitchen is a woman-led social enterprise based in Tower Hamlets. We focus on traditional, handmade Bangladeshi food while disrupting gender norms in hospitality by training and employing those underrepresented in kitchens and front-of-house roles.
We're part of the OITIJ-JO Collective, a charity dedicated to promoting Bengali culture through arts, food, and community action.
