On Sunday 21st September, The Speed Freaks is hosting its first ever event - inviting communities in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) and Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) to come together and Run for a Reason. And we would LOVE you to be there!Run for a Reason invites our local communities to run, walk or roll in honour of a whānau member or friend who has faced addiction or mental health challenges - celebrating those who have made courageous and brave changes, in support of those still struggling, and to honour the memory of those who have died through addiction or by suicide.
In Tāmaki Makaurau, participants will have the chance to complete as many laps of the Lovelock Track as they like within the 90 mins - with fast lanes, slower lanes and 'walking and talking' lanes ensuring there is a place for everyone.
Alongside this, participants will be encouraged to write their loved one's name on their bib in place of their own - to honour their journey.
We’ll be bringing our usual positive Speed Freak vibes; filling the event with upbeat tunes, dress ups, face paint, spot prizes and plenty of inspiration.
