The Future Is a Strategic Choice
What if strategy is not simply about competing in the present, but about choosing the future we help create?
In this Speaker Series session, Eliza Yvette Esquivel argues that brands are not passive participants in society but directional forces. Every strategic decision either reinforces a dystopian business-as-usual trajectory or moves us toward a more regenerative, protopian future.
Through the lens of dystopian and protopian futures, she will challenge the hidden assumptions that constrain strategic thinking and introduce practical tools, including the Creative Imagination Toolkit and the Three Horizons Framework, to help leaders expand their time horizon and rethink their role in shaping what comes next.
This session invites students and faculty to see brand strategy not as optimization, but as intentional future-building.
Eliza Yvette Esquivel is the Founder and Chief Strategist of Love & Order, a foresight and advisory firm guiding leaders toward Protopian futures—the best possible futures within reach.
With over 20 years of experience shaping strategy for global brands including Coke, Nike, McDonald's, Amazon, Samsung, and American Express, she has held client-side senior leadership roles at Microsoft and Mondelez, and was Chief Strategy Officer at FutureBrand and Barbarian.
Her work has been featured in Forbes, Ad Age, WARC, Advertising Week and at SXSW, and she is a contributor to the growing global conversation on Protopian leadership
