For decades, the UFO conversation has focused on objects, craft and evidence in the sky. But what if the most important data point has been overlooked? In this talk, researcher and storyteller Kelly Chase reframes the UFO phenomenon through the lens of the experiencer – the human being at the center of anomalous encounters. Drawing on historical cases, contemporary research, and patterns that cut across UFO sightings, contact experiences and other anomalous phenomena, she asks a deceptively simple question: what actually defines an experiencer?
Are experiencers passive witnesses to something external – or active participants in an interaction that blurs the line between mind, matter and meaning? Why do experiences often unfold symbolically rather than literally? And what does it mean that encounters frequently reshape a person’s identity, beliefs and sense of reality itself?
Rather than offering easy answers, this talk explores how contact may function less like a visitation and more like an initiation – one that challenges our assumptions about consciousness, perception, and the nature of reality. This talk offers a framework for understanding experiencers not as outliers, but as central to the UFO question itself.
