About this Event

(SYMT) is the new program of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. SYMT has been envisioned to enhance and support Spanish young musicians’ careers, in collaboration with U.S. music schools and universities at a higher level (bachelor and graduate students orchestras), offering them an experience abroad.
SYMT aims to offer young musicians not only a concert or recital in the U.S., but a complete experience with complementary activities such as masterclasses, talks, conferences, etc. to broaden their opportunities and contacts. All visiting musicians are winners of the Juventudes Musicales de España national award and under 30 years old.

ABOUT LUCÍA FUMERO

Lucía Fumero trained as a pianist in Barcelona and Rotterdam. After releasing her debut album with original compositions as a trio, "Universo Normal" (Seed Music, 2021), she consolidated her artistic project with an extensive concert tour, performing at festivals such as the Athens Jazz Festival, Jazzaldía (Donostia), Getxo Jazz Festival, and Madrid Jazz Festival, among others. Unique and original in piano performance and composition, she won the 1st Prize from Juventudes Musicales de España and the Best Emerging Band Award from Jazz España. In 2024, she will release a new album: "Folklore".

ABOUT NICO ROIG

Nico Roig studied guitar and composition in Barcelona and at the Conservatoire de Liège (Belgium). Although he works as a producer, instrumentalist, and composing on commission, it is through writing and composing songs where he finds his most personal and free voice. "Esto Frío No Vale Nada" (Foehn Records, 2023) is his most recent album. In it, he explores various traditional music styles from around the world, while maintaining a foothold in his own and his ironic, yet tender, way of storytelling.
