A very interesting band coming from different parts of the Southern hemisphere
and mixed in different way among them: rising star saxophonist Gianni Gagliardi
(ARG/ITA/SPA) and refined trumpet/pianist Ruben Giannotti (DE/ITA), together with a hot rhythm section with talented guitarist Ramon Garcia (VEN/SPA), Brazilian groovie bassist Thiago Duarte (BRA) and dynamic drummer Andrea Marcelli (ITA/DE/USA) are presenting beautiful music deeply related to their personal life, politics and society matters. A great collection of old and new songs based on very experienced musicians from the prolific old and new "Berlin Jazz Scene". The program selection, of very eclectic compositions, is influenced by South American / Brazilian Music, South European and Contemporary Jazz.

GIANNI GAGLIARDI DELL 'AGNOLO - saxophone
His unique sound, originality and artistic integrity have allowed him to act worldwide in extremely diverse situations, from jazz to flamenco music, with great artists such as Al Foster, John Clayton, Dick Oats, Gilad Hekselman or Jordi Rossy. He has been at the Berklee College of Music, State University of New York, Conservatorium Van Amsterdam, Conservatoire National Superior de Musique de Paris, Norwegian Academy of Music, The Rhythmic Conservatory of Copenhague and Basel’s Musik-Akademie. Gianni is the founder of BCN Jazz Collective, a label and platform for young composers to publish and promote their works. He has recorded extensively as a sideman and he has 5 records as a leader with great appreciation of the international press. He is a member of 2021 FocusYear Band at Basel’s Conservatory.

THIAGO DUARTE - Brazilian Bassist for 2 decades.. As a sideman has played with names such as Egberto Gismonti, Joao Bosco, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim. With Flora and Airto, he participated as an electric and acoustic bassist in the latest released albums, including "If You Will", by Flora Purim, nominated for the Grammy 2022 in the best Latin jazz album category.
Has performed at festivals and clubs in the United States, Europe, South America and Asia.
As a member of the Focus Year Band 2024, played with names such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Chris Cheek, Kris Davis, Miguel Zenón and Lionel Loueke.
As a leader and composer he released one trio Album in 2021, featuring Airto Moreira in 2 tracks, and
his next album, Casas e Raízes, brings together the Afro-Brazilian roots and the years he spent immersed in the European music scene. Holds a Master Degree in Double Bass by the Jazz Institut of Berlin University of Arts.

RAMON GARCIA Jazzgitarrist, Komponist und Arrangeur (Caracas / Venezuela) lebe in Berlin mit Unterrichtserfahrung
an Schulen in London und Madrid und auch mit Erfahrung als Leiter von Big Band und Musik Arrangeur.
• 1992 - 1997 Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Musik – Jazz. Cum Laude. Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, New York, USA.
Während seines Aufenthalts in New York City erhielt er Privatunterricht mit Gene Bertoncini, Ben Monder, Meisterkurse erhielt er unter anderem mit Eddie Gomez, Tito Puente, Joe Henderson, Rufus Reid, Jim Hall, Milt Jackson, Jimmy Heath, Bob Mintzer, Mulgrew Miller, Charlie Haden, Cecil Taylor.
Habe gespielt mit: mit Matt Wilson, Ugonna Okewo, Yosuke Inowe, Nasheet Waits, Takashi Shimamoto, Dave
Berkman, Sam Newsome, The Stellar Big Band, Cliff Longhurst's Jazz Knights Orchestra, The Denmark Street Big Band.

Drummer/composer ANDREA MARCELLI moved to the USA in 1989,
spending eight years in Los Angeles and four in New York City.
He has resided in Berlin since 2001. Over 200 of his compositions
have been recorded. Two of his tunes are included in both
“The European Real Book“ and “The Digital Real Book part 2“.
He is leading a very active international musical life, performing in
five continents. He collaborate with Wayne Shorter, Don Menza, Dave Liebman,
Allan Holdsworth, Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Eddie Gomez, Markus Stockhausen,
Ekkehard Wölk, Ralph Towner, Eberhard Weber, Palle Danielsson, John Patitucci,
Alex von Schlippenbach, Hiram Bullock, Frank Gambale and for over 20 years
with many local musicians from the Berlin jazz scene.
He recorded many albums and two critically acclaimed Cds with legendary Label Verve/PolyGram.

RUBEN GIANNOTTI, Jahrgang 1989, besuchte die Universität der Künste und die Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin bis zum Masterabschluss 2018.
Während seines Musikmachens hatte er die Möglichkeit mit folgenden hervorragenden Musiker*innen zusammenzuarbeiten, die als Bandleader, Dirigenten und Solisten wirken: Maria Baptist, David Beecroft, Greg Bowen, Michael Betzner-Brandt, Dan Collette, Pierre Dørge, Caro Emerald, Mats Holmquist, Julia Hülsmann, Niels Klein, Geoffroy de Masure, Norbert Nagel, Claus Reichstaller, Alexander v. Schlippenbach, Frank Strobel, Peter Tenner, Gebhard Ullmann, Peter Weniger und Jiggs Whigham.
Als Komponist arbeitet Ruben Giannotti an der Schnittstelle zwischen Neuer Musik, Jazz und populärer Musik. Für diese Genres schreibend verwirklicht er zahlreiche eigene Projekte: sein Ensemble oprheus III, sämtliche Bigband-Projekte, in denen er auch als Instrumentalist mitwirkt, die Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie, die Komische Oper Berlin.
Der Schwerpunkt seiner musikalischen Aktivitäten ist die Trompete. Zunächst als Mitglied des Berliner Jugend-Jazz-Orchesters und diverser Hochschulbigbands. Ruben war Gründungsmitglied des Maria Baptist Orchestra und damit startete er sein professionelles Engagement. In diesen Kontext gehört auch sein Mitwirken im Berlin Cool Jazz Project als Leadtrompeter und Solist. Vorrangig in der Berliner Szene aktiv, spielt er im Composers Orchestra Berlin und weiteren lokalen Big Bands und darüber hinaus: Fine Arts Big Band, Omniversal Earkestra uvm. Tourneen führten ihn durch den deutschsprachigen Raum.
