It's weekend of America's 250th! Locust Grove Estate will host a concert by Southern Dutchess Concert Band this evening on the beautiful grounds of the Samuel Morse Mansion. Admission is free, so pack your lawn chairs and blankets. If it should rain, this concert will be held indoors in the West Gallery room of the Locust Grove Visitor Center. In that case, Locust Grove will provide chairs for the audience.The 75-piece Southern Dutchess Concert Band will perform a selection of show tunes, popular standards, marches, light classical and wind ensemble music. Highlights will include: music from "The Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, a salute to the swinging big bands titled "Jitterbug!", songs from the musical "Chicago", and patriotic selections. The Southern Dutchess Concert Band consists of woodwind, brass and percussion musicians from southern Dutchess County and surrounding areas.
