This is a first time for Spirit Chasers Paranormal UK at the Merchants house and first use of
the Weigh House Vault:
Paranormal activity at the Merchants house is in the top ten most haunted places in
Southampton.
There are reported sightings of a female roaming the bedrooms, could this be the lady of the
night who was murdered in the building?
People have reported being pushed in the back, breaths have been felt and footsteps have
been heard when no one is about?
Recently a member of staff was collecting tea light candles, getting them ready to be
charged up, when they noticed someone had moved them to a table. But nobody was
present to move them. Could this be the mischievous spirit that used to blow candles out
when it was a pub, have they returned?
Paranormal activity in the Castle Vault on previous visits - the team have experienced
Poltergeist activity where an EMF Meter was thrown across the vault. Equipment being
activated on command, people being touched, shadow figures seen along with various other
incidents occurring throughout the investigation.
Weigh House vault: What will this vault produce on the night? Will we discover some of its
hidden past? This vault has seen many incidents throughout the years surviving many
attacks including a incendiary bomb blast during the War,
Medieval merchants house History:
Built in the 13 th century as a Merchants house with an under dwelling for storing wine, the
building has seen many happy and tragic times throughout the years. It has seen many
changes from a conversion into three cottages, then back to its original form and changing
again to a personal dwelling and a beer house (Pub) and a house of ill repute (Brothel).
Largely intact, the original features were discovered by a bomb blast which damaged the
building but revealing its true identity and significance.
Southampton Medieval vaults history:
Hidden around Southampton are various different vaults, these vaults have been used
throughout the years for various uses, from wine and coal cellars, smuggling illicit goods,
