In celebration of Earth Day, Carteret Community College Foundation invites the community to a special Sound Discoveries screening of the documentary "Blue Carbon: Nature’s Hidden Power" on April 21.This powerful film explores the critical role that coastal ecosystems—such as salt marshes, seagrasses, and mangroves—play in capturing carbon, protecting shorelines, and sustaining environmental and human health. As a coastal community, Carteret County’s identity, economy, and wellbeing are deeply tied to these vital ecosystems that support local industries, fisheries, and resilience along our coast.
The screening is provided in memory of Sally B. Smith, former President of the Carteret Community College Board of Trustees, in recognition of her lasting commitment to the College and the community it serves.
The event is free and open to the public, and wine and other beverages will be available for purchase. Community members, students, and friends of the College are encouraged to attend for an evening of reflection, learning, and appreciation for the natural systems that shape life on the Crystal Coast.
