Join Bex Lipps and Jamuna Kaur for an evening of community singing held in the cocoon of the Winter Solstice. In this sacred container of sound and song, Bex & Jam will guide us through embodied vocal practices and songs that invite us to embrace the darkness and connect to the fire within. All voices are welcome in this space, and no prior singing experience is necessary. Tiered ticketing, no one will turned away for lack of funds - please RSVP or show up and we will welcome you into the space.
10% of proceeds will be donated to Queer the Land, a collaborative project grounded in the self-determination of queer, transgender, and Two-Spirit Black/ indigenous/ people of color (QT2BIPOC) and the vision of collectively owning land and labor.

What to Bring:
~a water bottle
~one precious personal item for the Winter Solstice altar that represents this season or time for you (you will bring this home with you after the ritual!)
~blankets, pillow, yoga mats, or something to sit on the floor with and be comfortable. There will also be chairs available for anyone who needs one.
~fresh flowers, a fire-free tea light or light source, boughs of cedar for the communal altar

Paid parking is available in front of the building with free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. A limited number of parking passes are available for those with accessibility needs.

About Your Co-Facilitators:
Bex Lipps (They+She) is a queer & nonbinary song carrier, facilitator, performer, emcee, and mental health therapist. A firm believer in the power of art, music, and creativity to foster individual and collective healing, they bring their electric energy and love of authentic, embodied expression to community singing and their own musical artistry. Guided by the wisdom of collective movements for liberation, Bex delights in holding spaces that honor the vulnerability of our human experience with a reverence for ritual and a healthy dose of humor & playfulness.
Jamuna Kaur (They+She) is an embodied artist, teacher and space holder residing on Duwamish Land, Coast Salish Territory. Their facilitation work resides at the intersection of performance arts, science, storytelling and yoga. An interdisciplinary artist from a young age, Jamuna grew up studying music, dance, acting and visual arts simultaneously, but dance is their first love. They have over 20 years of experience studying dance & over 13 years creating choreography. Jam’s intention is to use performance art as a vehicle to communicate and strengthen our movements for intersectional climate justice.
