SoulCard Collage Art Series | Forest Dwelling

This class will introduce you to the process of making a SoulCollage card deck using images from magazines, the internet, or old books. Imagination, insight, and intuition guide you to create your cards (no art skills needed). Some use their cards for inspiration in creative writing and art. Some consult their cards for meditation and journal writing. Counseling professionals find the process of making cards and learning to read the messages of the cards helps clients open. grow, and heal. Insight gained through SoulCollage cards will surprise and delight you. This class is an excellent and fun way to enter into communion with the soul as part of the journey of aging.
This class is hosted by the OST Forest Dwelling Program which is a 2-year intensive formational program for people seeking to live into a mature spirituality. The Forest Dwelling Program offers a glimpse into themes of aging which are developed and harvested on the spiritual journey of an elder. This art series will encourage you to explore creative ways of healing and being that can lead you deeper into the life of a spiritually mature and loving elder.

Supplies needed:

SoulCollage(R) cards and matching clear protective sleeves are available at Amazon.com or SoulCollage.com, $10 for a 12-pack of 5x8 cards, sleeves are sold separately but recommended to protect your cards. Card stock or sturdy large index cards will also work. You will also need glue sticks and scissors. Please begin collecting images from magazines, old books from thrift stores, or the internet. Amazon Books also has collage image books. A journal for note-taking is recommended. Two cards and sleeves will be provided during the first class.

This class will take place on Tuesdays from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm for 6 weeks on the following dates:

This class will take place in person on the Oblate School of Theology campus in the Whitley Event Center, Classroom WTC 104.

Gaylynne Robinson, MA, retired from teaching at The University of Texas San Antonio after 14 years and decided to follow her calling to teach art to seniors. She is a certified grief counselor, licensed drug and alcohol counselor, and certified in trauma resolution and expressive arts therapy. Robinson was ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh in 2009 and given the name True Mountain of Flowers. She has taught art and wellness at NISD continuing education and Oasis Lifelong Learning. She is currently pursuing a certificate in gerontology to better help seniors find comfort and inspiration through art.
