About The Artist:
Eric Paslay moved to Nashville and attended Middle Tennessee State University, where he majored in music business and became president of the school's chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International. He made the most of every opportunity, volunteering for anything that might get his foot further in the door — from helping at charity golf tournaments to changing light bulbs in the NARAS office.
His breakthrough came not as a performer, but as a songwriter. He co-wrote five Billboard Hot Country Songs number-one singles for other artists, including "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" for Jake Owen (2012), "Night Train" for Jason Aldean (2012), "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" for Eli Young Band (2012), "Sunchaser" for Jake Owen (2013), and "Rewind" for Rascal Flatts (2014)
In mid-2011, Paslay signed to EMI Records Nashville, and his moment as a solo artist arrived when "Friday Night" — originally recorded by Lady Antebellum — became a Top 5 hit on Country Airplay in early 2014, appearing on his self-titled debut album. The album also featured the hits "Song About a Girl" and "She Don't Love You." That same year, he appeared on Amy Grant's album How Mercy Looks from Here, sharing lead vocals with Grant and Sheryl Crow on a song he wrote called "Deep As It Is Wide."
In 2015, Paslay was featured alongside Dierks Bentley on Charles Kelley's debut solo single "The Driver," which received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. He continued releasing music with a five-song digital EP called The Work Tapes in July 2017, before parting ways with EMI Records Nashville in September 2018.
Since going independent, Paslay has kept a steady creative output. In late 2023, he released a new EP titled Perfect Stranger. He also co-penned Keith Urban's 2022 hit "Wild Hearts" and released a compilation album of reimagined versions of his biggest songs as both a writer and artist. Four of his five number-one songs were ranked among Country Aircheck's "Top 100 Songs of the Decade," with "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" claiming the top spot on that list. Today, USA Today calls him "flat-out brilliant" and American Songwriter has named him an influencer of country music.
