About this Event
Ian Fisher (Missouri / Austria):
Ian Fisher left his home state of Missouri when he was twenty one to roam the streets of Europe for fifteen years, and has written two thousand songs and performed them at a thousand shows around Europe, Africa, and North America since. He makes what Rolling Stone calls, “A world traveler's perspective on American folk-rock." Mixing his rural Midwestern upbringing with a delicacy shaped by his time abroad. Simple, yet emotionally complex, he has the acoustic grit of an early Jeff Tweedy with a sentimental pen ready to strike a la Townes Van Zandt. He lives between Toronto, Vienna, and his family farm.
John Elliott:
John Elliott is a songwriter, performer, and musician. He has released sixteen albums in a conglomeration of genres since 2004. The fifth installment in an ongoing series of loosely related recordings released quadrennially during US presidential election years was released in May. He went viral once and doesn’t necessarily recommend it. He loves YouTube and the literary magazine The Sun. He believes most urban car trips can be replaced by walking, transit, or riding a bike. He lives in San Francisco with his partner and their son. Monthly podcast of sorts: www.audiodes.net
Sammy Volkov:
With its release in 2022, Be Alright! was the first album to debut at #1 on Alberta's CKUA Top 30 Chart. The Portland/Edmonton based singer has “...vocals that emanate…an air of melancholy. Roy Orbison, with a dash of Chris Isaak and a pinch of gospel-era Elvis Presley are the knee-jerk comparisons, as Volkov sings like a man out of time.” (The Edmonton Journal). He has shared stages with Mariel Buckley, Boy Golden, Del Barber, Frazey Ford, and recently appeared at the Edmonton and Calgary Folk Music Festivals.
Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door general admission; $15 for Students and low-income individuals. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.
