About the Series: "Songcatching" is a process of spontaneously and collaboratively creating songs together. This series will invite a committed cohort of singers into a deeper relationship with the process, exploring what is possible as familiarity with the practice and each other grows. No prior songwriting or singing experience is necessary - just come with an openness to mystery and a desire to attune both to yourself and the collective.

About the Facilitator: Jordan Mudd is a musical facilitator, community songwriter, ritualist, prayerful activist, and co-founder of Boston-Area Singing Circles. He has been catching songs collectively and individually for many years, and you can listen to some of his songs on bandcamp here!

Your Commitment:

  1. We meet 4 Mondays in a row, 7-9pm, on 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, and 3/2. You must plan to attend atleast 3 of the 4 Monday evening sessions. You MUST be able to join the the first session on 2/9.
  2. On Sunday 3/1, the day before our final session, there will be a joint half-day retreat from 10am - 2pm (location TBD) with the participants of the Flow Choir, another 4-part series focused on the CircleSinging style of vocal improv, where we will get to be in extended time together, share some of our learnings and practices with each other, and see what emerges from our combined energies. If you can't attend this session you are still invited to join this series.
  3. In between each session there will be short and simple musical assignments to complete between each session, designed to help integrate songcatching practices into your daily life. An optional WhatsApp group will be made to share in these practices and facilitate connection between participants.
