About this Event
Solder Jewelry Art Camp – Summer 2026
If you think soldering is only for adult experts, think again! This hands-on Solder Jewelry Art Camp is designed for upper elementary students and above and proves that soldering art is for all ages 8+. The world of soft-solder jewelry making is limited only by your imagination.
Campers will begin by learning how to safely and confidently handle a soldering iron. Using practice boards and resistors, students will develop essential soldering skills and learn how to create strong, clean solder joints. Once those foundations are in place, campers will move on to creating real jewelry projects—up to 10 unique pieces by the end of the camp!
Students will work with a wide variety of materials including beads, colored stones, copper and silver wire, and patina. Along the way, they’ll learn to use tools such as needle-nose pliers to bend and shape wire, assemble components, and solder everything together into stunning wearable art.
Project options may include:
- Caged Crystal Pendant
- Guitar String G-Clef Pendant
- Beaded Soldered Headpins
- Soldered Penny Jewelry
- Stamped Solder Earrings
- And one of our favorites—the Tree of Life Pendant!
Before you know it, campers will be confidently designing, shaping, and soldering their own jewelry creations. Each student will take home their finished projects, their soldering iron, and the knowledge and experience needed to continue creating long after camp ends.
Our camps are designed for the participants to learn to come up with problem solving techniques and "make things". Sometimes, this involves failing, returning to the original concept and trying again. We want to create an environment of trying, re-thinking the process, and trying again to make the design better. We believe this approach encourages creative thinking and determination in addition to exposing them to new technologies.
Registration for this camp closes one week prior to allow time to purchase required materials. Registration is limited. Projects are subject to change based on material availability. Once registered, you'll receive an email asking for the participant(s) name, age, and gender for our instructor's roster. If you have questions, please email them to [email protected].
By purchasing a ticket, you consent to following all the rules related to the Fab Lab and any others to maintain safety for all participants within the lab.
The Fab Lab is a place where students can build science, technology, engineering and math skills through hands on learning. Participating in Fab Lab activities allow students to explore and experiment with digital fabrication technology including 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, and Vinyl Cutters.
