Project Spaniel Autumn and Winter Workshops, 2024Details: These workshops constitute a series of four, all intended to work on developing fundamental and more advanced skills for anyone living with a spaniel. While each workshop is ‘stand-alone’, they are also intended to complement each other and build on skills learned in each. Each session will begin with a short introduction and seminar, followed by some group work and individual work.
A maximum of 8 spaces are available in each session and if you have more than one dog, you are welcome to mix and match dogs within your session slots. Each session will permit a canine-centered approach meaning that the tasks will be tailored to each individual dog and handler, so puppies are as welcome as older dogs.
Dogs should be happy and quiet being left in vehicles for short periods of time or being crated inside the venue when not working. Because there is some group work and individual work, your dog should also be happy to work within proximity to others.
Sessions:
1 – Sunday 15th September = Finding Focus – how to work with your spaniel rather than against them
2 – Sunday 6th October = Whistle while you work – using the whistle in everyday life to support your spaniel
3 – Sunday 17th November = Bring it Back – retrieving skills and drills
4 – Sunday 15th December = Tricks, twists and twirls – how to incorporate new skills and behaviours into your training and funk things up!
Location: Green Paws – indoor dog training venue near Scalford, Melton Mowbray
When: Sunday 15th September, 6th October. 17th November, 15th December 2024
Time: 9.30AM -12.30PM (to include a short seminar, group and individual work and a refreshment break)
Cost: £160 per dog for all four workshops if booked and paid for in advance OR £45 per session on PAYG but must be booked in advance (because spaces are limited, preference will be given to anyone booking the class series and please note this is non-refundable unless your space can be filled).
Ideal for: anyone living with a spaniel who would like some specialist training and support, while also working towards the APDT Good Companion awards as an integral part of these workshops. Other breeds/types are welcome, although please note that the sessions are designed to work specifically with spaniels and their caregivers.
The aim is: to provide hints, tips and skills to support your training and relationship with your spaniel in a way that is enjoyable and functional for you and your dog. There is an emphasis on supporting each individual dog/handler and your ambitions, whether you would like to work your spaniel or simply want a happy companion. Each workshop has a specific theme but will cover a range of skills and training opportunities.
Your coach: Dr Jacqueline Boyd, MAPDT (01583), Animal Behaviour and Training Council Registered Animal Training Instructor
