Christmas Gonk Workshop
Led by felting artist Lauren, this two-hour workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike, offering the chance to create your very own adorable Christmas gonk.
What to Expect:
- Choose Your Own Design: Customise your gonk by selecting your preferred colors, design, and festive accents. From traditional Christmas reds and greens to more playful or elegant hues, the choice is yours!
- Felting Techniques: Lauren will demonstrate how to safely use felting needles and guide you through sculpting the basic gonk shape from core wool.
- Personal Touches: After sculpting, you’ll apply a ‘top coat’ of wool in your selected colors, and finish by attaching festive details like hats, beards, or seasonal accessories of your choice.
Plus, we'll stay open until 5pm so if you do need a bit more time to finish your gonk, feel free to stick around.

About Lauren:
Lauren discovered her passion for needle felting in 2015 after seeing a giveaway for a custom felted cat in Your Cat magazine. A conversation with the artist sparked her interest, and she began experimenting with simple kits from Hobbycraft. Over the years, her love for the art form grew, and in 2023, after commissions from friends and the opportunity to lead felting workshops through Cambridge University, Lauren officially launched Feltables by Lauren.
Her style can be described as whimsical and cute, and she enjoys pushing the creative boundaries of felting while introducing others to this fun and relaxing craft.

Workshop guidelines
We will be working with sheep wool, so if you have allergies to wool or animal hair and would like to participate, please bring a mask and gloves, and inform the facilitator in advance. If necessary, also bring your epi-pen.
Please be aware that sharp tools, such as needles and scissors, will be used during this workshop. Replacement needles will be available during the workshop for £1 each if needed.
Parking
Parking is available in The Bell Centre Car Park. Please use the second car park entrance on St Marys Way.
Accessing The Bell Centre
Access The Bell Centre from the large green gates from the car park, opposite the Cutting Room. Once in the Bell Centre, follow the walkway to the right and you'll find us at number 14 just before the Time Out Cafe.
