Who Should Attend
This course is intended for:
- All individuals working on construction sites in Ireland
- General construction workers, labourers, and apprentices
- Craft workers and trainees
- Anyone requiring a Safe Pass card to access construction sites
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this programme, learners will be able to:
- Understand their responsibilities regarding health and safety on site
- Identify common hazards and risks in the construction environment
- Apply safe working practices to prevent accidents and injuries
- Understand the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Recognise emergency procedures and reporting requirements
Course Content
The programme covers a range of essential topics, including:
- Introduction to site safety and legislation
- Accident reporting and prevention
- Working at height
- Excavations and confined spaces
- Electricity and underground/overhead services
- Use of plant, machinery and hand tools
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Manual handling awareness
- Noise, vibration and hazardous substances
- Health and welfare on site
Course Attendance Requirements
- Registration: 8:00am sharp
- Course Start: 8:30am sharp
- Course Finish: 4:00pm
All learners must attend for registration at 8:00am. The course will begin at 8:30am sharp and no late entrants will be permitted under any circumstances.
Delivery, Assessment & Certification
- Delivery: Classroom-based training delivered by an approved SOLAS instructor
- Duration: 1 full day
- Assessment: Multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course
- Certification: Successful participants will receive a SafePass card issued by SOLAS, valid for 4 years
Mandatory Requirements (Strictly Enforced)
Valid Identification
- You must present a valid passport or driving licence on the day
- No other forms of ID are accepted
- Failure to provide valid ID will result in refusal of entry
PPS Number
- A PPSN must be provided on the day of training
- Temporary PPS numbers must be arranged with SOLAS at least one week in advance
- No PPSN = No course
Photograph Requirement
- A passport-style photograph is required for Safe Pass registration
- To ensure correct format and avoid issues with card processing, photos will be taken on the day if required
- This service will incur a fee of €10 per person
Attendance & Participation
- Full attendance and participation are mandatory
- Learners must remain in the training room for the entire duration of the course
- Leaving and re-entering the course during the day is not permitted
- Failure to comply may result in removal from the course without certification
Terms & Conditions
Public Courses – Cancellation & Rescheduling
- 72+ business hours before the course: Full refund minus €35 administration fee per person
- 48+ business hours before the course: Reschedule at no additional cost
- Less than 48 business hours before the course: No refunds; rescheduling available for €100 per person
