Attendees can win festival prizes by attending multiple screenings! Be sure to scan the QR code at each screening check-in to be eligible. Unless otherwise noted, all screenings are FREE and open to the public.
SMU is once again screening a German film, “Willkommen bei den Hartmanns” (2016), directed by Simon Verhoeven. The film is scheduled for March 3rd at 7:00 PM. A brilliant comedy that takes you on a rollercoaster. This film tells the story of an affluent German family, where each member has issues of their own. The arrival of a refugee turns their world upside down. The film received the German Film Award for Highest grossing Film of the Year in 2016 and received praise for its willingness to address Germany's ambivalent views on refugees, albeit through a humorous lens.
A reception will be held at 6 PM before the film screening.
