About this Event
How about growing your own fresh, organic fruit at home?
NEW! Have you ever desired fresh fruit right off the plant but always thought you did not have the space or the time to devote to a growing fruit in a busy urban setting?
The small urban orchard is within your reach. Dallas County's own Agriculture Agent Matthew Orwat helps you learn about the small fruit you can plant around your yard or deck, be it in the ground or in containers.
He will teach you about how to cultivate blackberries, figs, and strawberries, which are all fruit well-adapted to North Texas but can be optimized with proper sunlight and nutrients. He will also touch on strategies for cultivating blueberries in the Dallas area, which can be very difficult to grow in our alkaline soil without the right production strategies. Join us for this comprehensive, 90 minute class, and make this spring the year you grow a greater variety of your own food! FREE.
