About this Event

Dates: Sat Oct 19 - Sun Oct 20, 2024, 10 am - 5 pm both days. Ticket: $200 member / $225 non-member. Instructor: Lissa de Sailles from NSW, Australia. Materials fee: $10-$50 based on materials selected. Skills Needed: No basketry experience required. Class Limit: 12 students, 7 minimum

Learn how Lissa makes her signature sculptural basketry forms with a variety of materials from the local environment using the aesthetically pleasing coiling technique, Australian-style. Some materials will be available for all to use: hay bale sisal strands, some raffia, willow rods.

Students are encouraged to collect and bring their own materials - the following list details some of the local materials that can be used for coiling. (Contact workshop chair Judy Dominic ([email protected]) for collection/storage information.)

- Stems (from leaf or flower): hosta, hickory, day lily, palm inflorescence

- Needles: pine - the longer the better

Other materials that can be used: cloth strips, piping cord or paracord
