About this Event
Skill Up: Architectural Sketching
Friday16th August 2024, 11 am - 4 pm
For young people aged 15-18
Join us for a day of inspiration, creativity as you develop a skill that will assist in any design career path you take. Step into the world of architecture and sketching at our one-day creative workshop designed to boost your drawing skills and confidence.
During this workshop, you will delve into the art of observation, learn the fundamental principles of perspective drawing, and cultivate the right mindset for artistic expression.
Embark on a journey where observational drawing meets imagination as we envision a futuristic metropolis together. Starting with everyday objects, we will refine our observational skills to capture their essence before bending reality and scale to craft our very own cityscape. The day will culminate in a collaborative group drawing where we merge our individual ideas into a collective vision.
This creative architecture workshop will be led by artist Luke Adam Hawker.
Luke Adam Hawker is an artist with a background in Architecture and Design. Luke commenced his career as a designer before he became a full-time artist in 2015. He has a fascination with drawing on location as well as taking the time to notice the world around him. He primarily uses his art as a means to connect with places and people.
About the Workshop Series
Our workshops for ages 15 to 18 ‘skill up’ teenagers who are thinking about studying architecture or design. Participants think critically, share their views on architecture and express themselves through creative practice. In past workshops participants have learnt how to work to an architectural brief, improve portfolios, develop architectural drawing skills using a variety of media (including digital drawing on iPads) and photography skills, and work individually and collaboratively to think about how to design sustainable and responsible architecture.
Based in London, mainly our HQ at 66 Portland Place, all participants must arrive by 11am. These workshops are led by professional educators and all materials are included in the ticket price, but lunch is not provided.
If you're under 18, tickets must be booked by a parent or guardian. Online booking in advance is essential and if we do not receive full registration information in advance of the event we cannot allow the participant to attend.
